Isacco generò Giacobbe,

Giacobbe generò Giuda e i suoi fratelli,

Giuda generò Fares e Zara da Tamar,

Fares generò Esrom,

Esrom generò Aram,

Aram generò Aminabad,

Aminabad generò Naason,

Naason generò Salmon,

Salmon generò Booz da Racab,

Booz generò Obed da Rut,

Obed generò Iesse,

Iesse generò il re Davide.

Davide generò Salomone da quella

che era stata la moglie di Uria,

Salomone generò Roboamo,

Roboamo generò Abia,

Abia generò Asaf,

Asaf generò Giosafat,

Giosafat generò Ioram,

Ioram generò Ozia,

Ozia generò Ioatam,

Ioatam generò Acaz,

Acaz generò Ezechia,

Ezechia generò Manasse,

al tempo della deportazione a Babilonia.

Dopo la deportazione in Babilonia,

Sadoc generò Achim,

Achim generò Eliud,

dalla quale è nato GESU’ chiamato CRISTO.

da Davide fino alla deportazione in Babilonia

dalla deportazione in Babilonia

a CRISTO è, infine, di quattordici.

Ecco come avvenne la nascita di

GESU CRISTO:

sua madre Maria,

essendo promessa sposa di Giuseppe,

prima che andassero a vivere insieme,

si trovò incinta per opera dello

SPIRITO SANTO.

Giuseppe suo sposo,

che era giusto e non voleva ripudiarla,

decise di licenziarla in segreto.

Mentre però stava pensando a queste cose,

ecco che gli apparve in sogno

un angelo del SIGNORE e gli disse:

<<Giuseppe, figlio di Davide,

non temere di prendere con te Maria, tua sposa,

perché quel che è generato in lei viene dallo SPIRITO SANTO.

Essa partorirà un figlio

e tu lo chiamerai GESU’:

egli infatti salverà il suo popolo

dai suoi peccati>>.

Tutto questo avvenne

perché si adempisse ciò che era stato detto dal SIGNORE

per mezzo del profeta:

<<Ecco la vergine concepirà e partorirà un figlio

che sarà chiamato Emmanuele>>,

che significa DIO con noi.

4 Ram the father of Amminadab. Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,

5 Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab. Boaz became the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth. Obed became the father of Jesse,

6 Jesse the father of David the king. David became the father of Solomon, whose mother had been the wife of Uriah.

7 ³ Solomon became the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asaph.

8 Asaph became the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah.

9 Uzziah became the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah.

10 Hezekiah became the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amos, ⁴ Amos the father of Josiah.

11 Josiah became the father of Jechoniah and his brothers at the time of the Babylonian exile.

12 After the Babylonian exile, Jechoniah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,

13 Zerubbabel the father of Abiud. Abiud became the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor,

14 Azor the father of Zadok. Zadok became the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud,

15 Eliud the father of Eleazar. Eleazar became the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,

16 Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah.

17 Thus the total number of generations from Abraham to David is fourteen generations; from David to the Babylonian exile, fourteen generations; from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah, fourteen generations. ⁵

18 ⁶ Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ

came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, ⁷ but before they lived together, she was found with child through the holy Spirit.

19 Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, ⁸ yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly.

20 Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord ⁹ appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her.

21 She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, ¹⁰ because he will save his people from their sins."

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:

23 ¹¹ "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means "God is with us."

17 De manera que todas las generaciones desde Abraham hasta David son catorce generaciones, y desde David hasta la Deportación a Babilonia son catorce generaciones, y desde la Deportación a Babilonia hasta el Cristo son catorce generaciones.

18 El nacimiento de

Jesucristo

fue Así: Su madre María

estaba desposada con José;

y antes de que se unieran,

se Halló que ella Había concebido del

Espíritu Santo.

19 José, su marido,

como era justo y no Quería difamarla,

se propuso dejarla secretamente.

20 Mientras él pensaba en esto,

he Aquí un ángel del Señor se le Apareció en sueños y le dijo:

"José, hijo de David,

no temas recibir a María tu mujer,

porque lo que ha sido engendrado en ella es del Espíritu Santo.

21 Ella Dará a luz un hijo;

y Llamarás su nombre Jesús,

porque él Salvará a su pueblo

de sus pecados."

22 Todo esto Aconteció

para que se cumpliese lo que Habló el

Señor

por medio del profeta, diciendo:

23 He Aquí, la virgen Concebirá y Dará a luz un hijo, y Llamarán su nombre Emanuel,

que traducido quiere decir: Dios con nosotros.
